Munich play with Nana & Papa

On our rainy return to Munich, we spent a lot of time just hanging out with Nana & Papa, and a surprise visit from Uncle Brehan.

Lunch at the remodeled Riding School Cafe.  Delicious and HUGE plates – bring your hunger!! Sophia reading her goodnight story to Nana & Brehan. and showing the pictures to the rest of the class. And playing in the afternoons at Sophia’s school.

Alexandra decided she wanted to take her socks off. You know you get away with everything when the grandparents are around…And seriously it’s been raining so hard that we pulled out the twister game to play!  No park time for us…  but there was lots of time for lots of cuddles…

A quiet Verona morning

Both Troy & Dad got up early Sunday morning, and beat the raindrops, to walk thru the deserted streets.

The city was obviously very wealthy – marble streets everywhere! – and the artists were well employed for decorations on so many buildings.

Layers & Layers of history. The we all walked over to the river & the old Roman Theater before it was time to head into the rain & home to Munich.  

Romance in Verona

We thought that Verona would be a good stopping point on the drive back to Munich.  Time to stretch out in the windy streets, and enjoy a little of the romance of Romeo & Juliette – especially at night.

It was also a perfect place to be on May 1, labor day in Europe, and normally a day when everything is shut down (seriously even the subway system was closed until 3pm the year we were in Vienna)…  Everything was open in Verona, and open late!  YEA!!

and check out the dinner party being set up on the terrace on the next building! The Roman Arena, which is still used for Operas during the summer season, was being set up for a concert – amazing to see how many people fit inside! Troy & Alexandra met up with our friend Dominic and his daughter Ida, and played near the fountain while waiting for us… And then the girls just played & played… street performers are so great for kids!  Alexandra kept walking closer & closer, she was really fascinated with the music & the show.
